Steady-state analysis and simulation of a BJT self-oscillating ZVS-CV ballast driven by a saturable transformer

چکیده
The steady-state oscillation of a zero-voltageswitching clamped-voltage self-oscillating ballast driven by a saturable transformer is analyzed and simulated. Its selfoscillating operation is divided into six stages according to the hysteresis B–H loop of saturable transformer cores. Stage-wise circuit analysis shows the saturable transformer limits the lamp current and dominates the switching frequency of the ballast. The saturating behavior of driving and switching devices clearly distinguishes this self-oscillating inverter from an external-drive high-quality-factor resonant inverter. Analytical results are verified by mathematical simulation and laboratory experiment.

Multi-Lamp High-Power-Factor Electronic Ballast Using a Fixed-Frequency Self-Oscillating Driver
This paper presents a fixed-frequency self-oscillating high-power-factor electronic ballast supplying four independent lamps. The fixed-frequency self-oscillating driver is achieved adding a LC series filter supplying a small resistor. The primary winding of the self-oscillating transformer is the series inductor of the filter. So, if one or more lamps are damaged, the switching frequency will ...

A self core reset and zero voltage switching (ZVS) forward converter topology is presented in this paper. By employing a simple auxiliary circuit, the proposed topology is able to achieve self reset of the power transformer without the use of the conventional tertiary reset winding, and its main switch can be turned on and turned off under ZVS independent of line and load conditions. This simpl...

In this paper, a bidirectional DC-DC converter with high power density for energy storage application is proposed. The presented converter provides power transfer in both directions only with adjusting phase shift angle. Zero voltage switching (ZVS) in both turn on and turn off moments of all switches is the major capability of the converter that makes it suitable for high power applications. Z...
